A look at Proverbs in a New Light!
Miss Nan’s objective in teaching and writing is to encourage believers to live the holy, righteous life and to show us a way to do so in our everyday living. She combines holy and practical. In this book she does just that.
In doing research for this book, she looked at the Proverbs of the Old Testament and the Proverbs of the New Testament (the book of James) and deducted that the information in these books is as practical as it gets to live the holy life. Thus the title of the book is “As Practical as it Gets.”
Miss Nan spent many years in the educational field. She started as an English teacher, moved into administration, and served as president of a private junior college in Jackson, Mississippi for twenty years, a position from which she retired in 1995.
It was in Jackson that she found her true calling, teaching the Word of God in a local church, Colonial Heights Baptist Church. Soon after becoming a member, she began to teach Sunday School, first to older women and currently to younger women, and periodically to men and women during a span of over thirty years.
Until a few years ago, Miss Nan believed her mission was in her local church. However, when a pastor of another church asked her to teach a Bible study to his congregation, she did not hesitate to agree to do so. She knew this was on her list of work in heaven.
Now, at age eighty-one, she is going out to churches as the Lord leads. She truly believes that in God’s work, it is always too early to quit.
