D. D. Lewis was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. As a commercial pilot, D. D. Lewis was able to travel extensively. He also had opportunities to go on short-term mission trips to Africa and India. D. D. Lewis had the privilege to minister in the Allegheny County Jail for over 20 years. D. D. Lewis served as a volunteer chaplain, giving one-on-one counseling to inmates, and led a Bible study every Tuesday evening. Teaching and counseling in the jail prepared him to be a pastor at Providence Church in Pittsburgh, where he currently serves.
