Love in the 1860s is an alternative history of the United States. In a time of turmoil and change, a young couple discuss and discern the events of their youth. While the alternative history covers slavery and secession, there is no civil war between North and South.

The author was raised and educated in Hawaii, and has lived in California for 50 years. Most importantly, his high school years and college years were spent in the 1960’s, a decade of war and peace, faith and religion, human rights, environmental consciousness, and love. Married in 1968, the author and wife have 6 children and 5 grandchildren. Recently retired, the author has more time to reflect on life and faith, and more time for prayer.
