For more than sixty-five years, Ms. Oleson has lived and worked in the dark, complicated, and often misunderstood world of trauma. Her early years were marked by abuse and neglect. Later, emerging as a survivor, she ultimately found her strength as a warrior, a healer, and now—through her faith—as a light bearer and foot washer for Christ. She shares how her world was shattered in the fall of 2016, bringing her to her knees and resulting in the tragic end of her career and life as she knew it. This is the story of her journey through the healing process, which ultimately led her to come to terms with her history of trauma.
There are times in our lives when God truly does give us more than we can handle, and all we have left is to trust Him. It is during those dark and difficult seasons of waiting that only by reaching for the hand of Christ can He heal our wounds and walk us out of the wilderness—changed and better for it.
Ten percent of the proceeds from In the Waiting will be used to support organizations who provide services for women who have been battered and/or sexually assaulted.

Kim Renea Oleson is a world traveler, missionary, volunteer children’s pastor, and retired forensic psychotherapist. She holds a master’s degree in psychology from the University of Northern Colorado. A writer and photographer who loves the outdoors, she enjoys hiking, biking, and traveling. Ms. Oleson has two sons—one in California and one in Colorado. In 1998, Jenn, a fifteen-year-old high school student, came into her life; it wasn’t long before they adopted each other as mother and daughter. She has two grandsons, three granddaughters, and a scruffy little Puerto Rican street dog named Pashie. She lives in Northern Colorado near her beloved mountains. This is her first book.
