This book is a combination of life experience and historical figures in short story form, bound together by the theme of how they help explain the author's vision of soul/spirit complexity. It's written in layman's terms through the author's perspective, which is inspired by the conviction that since God is the Giver of Life, then his word, the Bible, offers the best explanation as to how soul/spirit can be defined. This work is his attempt to explain, in part, what God alone can comprehend completely.

Leonard Miller was born and raised in the humble culture of an Anabaptist Mennonite farm community in southeast Iowa. As a high school student during the draft, he began to question the Mennonite tradition of pacifism and in time, aligned more closely with St. Augustine of Hippo’s concept of just and unjust war and personal actions of a soldier. At age 10, Leonard became fascinated with the north through short stories submitted by Olive Fredrickson to “Outdoor Life” magazine. In 1983 he drove to Alaska and, in many respects, was home. His children, Katie, Alaine, and Seth, share the same love for the land and its people as he does. At age 48 God challenged Leonard to consider what he was doing to himself by attacking his own character. This is what he discovered.
