Jim Rentz is a retired pastoral counselor and educator. He resides in the Palmetto Patriots Home in Cherokee County, South Carolina, which is a long-term care facility for disabled veterans. He is blessed to live among his beloved fellow veterans and enjoys regular visits from loving family members and friends. Though he had formal education up to and including the Doctor of Ministry Degree, he believes that his most valuable education came from listening to the souls of those he served.
Upon his return from Vietnam where he served as an army chaplain during the height of the war, he knew deep in his soul that he needed to write about his war experiences. For over 45 years he was too busy professionally to do so. He was forced into full retirement in 2014 due to a hemorrhagic stroke. Once he was stabilized, he began to write his book. What he has written has percolated in his soul over many years and life experiences.
