This story is inspired by my son, Michael, who dreamed from a young age that he would one day become a soldier. He spoke it every chance he got, declaring with confidence, "Mommy, I'm going to be a soldier." With his creative imagination, he lived it out in play–pretending, practicing, and preparing–without even realizing that he was declaring life over his own future.
